Principal's Message

I feel so privileged to be entering my eleventh year as principal at North Calloway Elementary.  I have the best job in the world serving students, families and teachers in the Calloway County community.  I can not think of a better place to be!

We are so proud of our students and staff who have earned the honor of being named a Distinguished/Progressing, School of Distinction.  Our teachers and students work hard each and every day. At North Elementary, we value and challenge each student and provide opportunities for success we truly believe that "Every Student Matters and Every Moment Counts."

We as educators recognize the important contributions parents make toward a child’s success in school.  There is no question about it - success at school begins at home.  Parents are the single most important variable in a child’s schooling.  Parents model both a silent and spoken language in front of their children daily. This is one reason that we hold the partnership between home and school as one of the strengths at North Calloway Elementary School.

In an effort to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all of our students at North Calloway Elementary School, our staff is invlolved in a Positive Behavior Intervention Support plan (PBIS) which is designed to create and maintain a safe school environment by promoting positive behaviors. PBIS is a system-wide approach to behavior management where the behavior standards are infused into every part of the school atmosphere. This is the seventh year for us here at North and we will continue to receive training on how to better our program over the years to come. Our system has been built around the theme WAVES.  Through the acronym W.A.V.E.S., the staff created a way to help students remember the standards expected of them in all aspects of their school day: Work together, Act responsibly, Value yourself and others, Engage in learning, and Strive for success. The idea is to explicitly teach the expected behaviors and pre-correct student behavior before it becomes a problem. It is important to keep in mind that PBIS is a process not a program.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.  We feel that it is a blessing to be able to educate your child.
